was all but joy in Ekiti state as not less than thirty five students graduated with first class honour degree from Federal University of Oye Ekiti (FUOYE). This announcement was made during the university's second combined convocation ceremony held on Friday, August 30, Legit.ng gathers. FUOYE vice chancellor, Professor Kayode Soremekun, said the
prospect of the varsity is transform it into a complete model for institutions across Africa. Also speaking at the convocation ceremony, Daily Trust reports that President Muhammadu Buhari commended FUOYE for not placing money above character, dignity and integrity.
The President noted that Nigerians conferred with the honourary awards deserved them, adding that his government is on the move to entrench the culture of dignity and respect for human values above money worshiping. The president,
represented by the director at the Tertiary Education Trust Find (TETFUND) John Ojo Olusola, said: “As a government, we take pride in our popular appeal for integrity and excellence. That is why we are glad by the exemplary personalities and outstanding pedigrees of the distinguished Nigerians that the university honoured.
“You can never be wrong in the choice of these worthy Nigerians, who have been absolutely selfless and altruistic in their commitments to the Nigerian projects. “The university’s decision in this respect, I must admit, says a lot not only about the integrity of the selection process, also the quality of university’s management, especially the Vice Chancellor, Prof Kayode Soremekun."
The newspaper reports that those honoured include the Catholic Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Felix Femi Ajakaye, Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi, the cleric who saved 262 Christians from being killed by insurgents in Barkin Ladi in Plateau state and Chief Guy Garguilo, a British national, who mentored many Nigerians and rendered a lot of humanitarian services to the nation.
