Renowned Mass Communication professor, Lai Oso, has tragically passed away at the age of 67

The distinguished professor, who taught at the School of Communication, Lagos State University (LASU), reportedly lost his life in a fatal accident on Saturday evening. The incident occurred while he was returning from a conference held in Abraka, Delta State.

The devastating news of Professor Oso's untimely demise was confirmed by Professor Sunday Olayinka Alawode, the Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies at LASU. In a broadcast message sent to The PUNCH on Sunday morning, Professor Alawode expressed his deep sorrow and informed the university community about the unfortunate incident.

"Good morning family. I am constrained to inform us of the involvement of Professor Muraino Olayiwola OSO, (we all fondly called Baba Lai Oso) in a ghastly auto accident which claimed his life yesterday, 24th June 2023," Professor Alawode wrote.

Professor Lai Oso was widely respected in the field of Mass Communication, both in Nigeria and beyond.
