ENACTUS Bayero University, Receives Award in Memory of Princess Diana

Enactus

Enactus is an international organization that brings together student, academic and business leaders who are committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to enable progress around the world. Founded in 1975, Enactus has active programs on more than 1,600 college and university campuses across 36 countries, involving more than 72,000 students.

Bayero University, Kano is one of such tertiary institutions where the ENACTUS program takes place. The ENACTUS BUK team with a dedicated leader Olumide Areo with his far-reaching efforts working with the school management staff, Prof. Muktar Halliru and other external organizations and authorities have supported the University's student innovators to solve challenges of sustainable development in communities, bringing the attention of investors to their projects and improving access to resources, mentorship and start-up funding.

On behalf of the ENACTUS BUK team, Olumide Areo has been recognized with the highest accolade a young person can achieve for social action or humanitarian efforts with The Diana Award established in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, the Award is a charity, established in memory of Princess Diana and her belief that young people have the power to change the world. 

The charity is supported by The Duke of Cambridge and The Duke of Sussex Tessy Ojo, CEO of The Diana Award, says: “We congratulate all our new Diana Award recipients who are change makers for their generation. We know by receiving this honour they will inspire more young people to get involved in their communities and begin their own journey as active citizens. 

For over twenty years The Diana Award has valued and invested in young people encouraging them to continue to make positive change in their communities and lives of others.”  The recipient Olumide Areo says ” I am grateful to God, and my professor, Prof. Murkar Halliru who has always believed in young people as change agents, my team members resilient enough to encourage me in the share spirit of Princess Diana that young people have the power to change the world.”
