Bilal Abdullahi       Saturday, September 21, 2019

Undergraduate students of Bayero University have been called upon to practice entrepreneurship and skills acquired, now and after gradation.

The Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. Shamsuddeen Umar, urged the students to do so during a career day organized by the Deanery of the Student Affairs on Monday 12 September, 2019 at the newly renovated multipurpose hall in the Deanary.

Dr. Umar said students should look for business opportunities as they could generate income instead of relying on government to provide them with white colour jobs. He expressed hope that they would create job opportunities in commercial activities.

Presenting a paper titled: The Entrepreneurial Journey, Dr. Najafi Auwalu Ibrahim from the Dangote Business School,

BUK revealed various approaches to entrepreneurship and the different types of new enterprises. He further challenged the students to choose the most promising opportunities among the many alternatives.

Earlier, in her opening remarks, the Deputy Registrar in-charge of Student Affairs, Hajiya Anisatu Uwais Nuhammad, said the career day was organized to encourage the graduates to create their own jobs rather than seek employment by others.

Also, the Students' Guidance and Counselling Officer, Malama Salamatu Waziri Saleh, stated that the programme was a step forward for students to become successful entrepreneurs after graduation.
In her closing remarks, the Deputy Dean (Female Students), Dr. Hajara Umar Sanda, expressed pride with the success of the programme and hoped that the University would tweak the programme further, so that the students who have joined this year would be more proactive in producing products that could be marketed. She thanked the Vice Chancellor for his untiring support to the Students Affairs Division.

A total of 235 students took part in the event. The participants were final year students from various departments of the University.

The programme focused on creating foundation start￾ups, nurturing a generation of young technology entrepreneurs, building capacity and creating a platform to attract students to entrepreneurship and to inspire technology innovation.

Well, this write-up is for all Nigerian students entirely, not just BUK students. Think something creative, your life will be better before graduation. I would like to suggest this article about information marketing from this final year student in BUK who promised himself to make a dime online and surely he's making it.
