Bayero University Football Team defeated University of Agriculture Makurdi in a football match


Bayero University Football Team defeated University of Agriculture Makurdi 1-0 at the second leg of the quarter finals of the ongoing Higher Institutions Football League (HIFL) played at the UAM's ground on Wednesday, 11 September, 2019.

BUK players put the 0-1 loss at the hands of the same opponent in BUK behind them and surprised the vociferous UAM fans, who filled the stadium to the brim. The Team BUK dominated the entire proceedings with sublime passes and excellent coordination of the game.

The BUK Team was rewarded shortly before the end ofthe match, when Abdulkadir Tijjani scored a fantastic goal and took the team to penalty shoot-out. In the penalty shoot-out, BUK lost by 4-5. In an interview, the Director of Sports, Malam Usman Salihu, commended the BUK players for their excellent performance and said the officiating was fair.

He said if not because of the bad pitch, BUK Team would have scored many goals. “The fact that they beat us in BUK and we went all the way to Makurdi and cancelled the deficit and even dominated the entire proceedings shows that our boys are well motivated,” said the Director.

The theme of this year's edition is Games of Peace, Unity and Harmony. The opening ceremony will take place at Ahmed Adamu Mu'azu Stadium, New Campus at 4pm.
